New Years Intentions

The turn of the Year is such a natural time to set forth intentions for ourselves, our nation, even our planet. Rather than adhere to the tradition of the "resolution" which often ends up being a restriction (lose 10# anybody?), I would like to set forth the intent for something positive this year. "Manifestation" seems like such a buzz word these days, but I know I cannot deny the power behind conscious, heart connected intent.
This New Years, I would like to set forth the intent of tolerance and wisdom for myself and my global community. I would like to remember, in the dire moments, that adversity is a tool to expand my understanding, increase my compassion, and open my heart a little more. In that spirit, I would like to share a quote from His Holiness the Dalai Lama:

"Now, there are many, many people in the world, but relatively few with whom we interact, and even fewer who cause us problems. So, when you come across such a chance for practicing patience and tolerance, you should treat it with gratitude. It is rare. Just as having unexpectedly found a treasure in your own house, you should be happy and grateful to your enemy for providing that precious opportunity."

I invite anyone reading this to take this to heart, and consider what our lives could look like if this were a concept we live by.
Please feel free to post/comment any and all of your intentions for the New Year!!

Welcome to the World Summit for Humanity Blog

On November 2, 2008, seven people met with these purposes in mind: to recognize our ability to be world leaders, to choose through consensus an action that each was willing to support and participate in, and to carry out the action after the Summit.

We shared from our hearts the fears and desires we have for ourselves and humanity and discovered common needs that underlie our fears and desires. As a group, we came to recognize physical needs as basic to all humanity, and beyond the physical needs we reflected upon the need for compassion and true listening.

This blog is the culmination of our efforts. Our goal is to provide an open, honest forum for communication regarding our fears and desires for humanity.

We'd like to see this blog used as a space for sharing opinions, but more than that, for sharing resources for change and expanding our world view. We're excited about the possibilities as we come together in this way.
